On Saturday eve, January 6, in a gathering held by the Iranian Resistance in France on the occasion of the New Year, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, wished a Happy New year for the people of France and Iranian Christians inside Iran and abroad.
In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi referred to the bitter terrorist events during recent weeks and said: On the eve of new year, the fundamentalism and terrorism octopus, whose heart beats in Tehran , unfortunately took heavy tolls from the French in Mauritania, the Muslims and the people of region- in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan, and especially by assassinating Mrs. Bhutto. Once again I would like to extend my deep sympathy with the people of all these countries, especially their families, and wish that peace and happiness substitute bitterness.
Mrs. Rajavi described this gathering as the solidarity and friendship celebration between the freedom and democracy seeking people of Iran and France and added: ” I am very glad to see that the French people from various locations have gathered here to express their solidarity with and support of the Iranian Resistance. Our tonight gathering sends the message of hope to the Iranian people, because they find further friends in their struggle for achieving freedom. This gathering also sends this message to the mullahs that the people of the world are getting more and more motivated against them and their suppressive policies. This gathering also sends a message to those who appease the mullahs that the era of supporting religious fascism has reached to its end.
She finished her speech by these words:
“Here, I want to commemorate the city of Ashraf, the fort of Iranian Resistance 50 kilometers away from the Iran-Iraq border. Some of you have visited there and have been acquainted with the members of Resistance and the residents of Ashraf. Despite thousands miles of distance, they are with us at this moment and greet their French comrades.
Those who are in Ashraf defend humanitarian and progressive values for a free Iran,
They resist for freedom, democracy in Iran, and for peace and security in the region and the world.
They are the strongest barriers against the mullahs’ fundamentalism in Iraq and in the region. ”
Jean-Pierre Béquet, the mayor of Auvers-sur-Oise wished the audience a happy new year and underscored Mrs. Rajavi’s speeches on the necessity of confronting fundamentalism and terrorism and said: Few weeks ago, fundamentalism caused the assassination of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan. He commemorated her memory and said: Mrs. Bhutto was a brave woman who represented the efforts for democracy in her country.
