Al Jazeera daily (Saudi Arabia), 3 Oct 2012 – Finally, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran has been removed from the US black list, in which it was designated during the presidency of Bill Clinton. Some considered that measure as intended to obtain Iran’s friendship at that time.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization is a part of the Iranian opposition structure founded under the name of the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” based in Paris. This movement began an armed struggle and fiercely fought against the Iranian regime alongside former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, may he rest in peace. However, the movement’s leadership and intellectuals chose Paris as their base for civil activities against Iran, while families, the elderly and various former soldiers remained in Iraq in camps. Under a UN decision these individuals gained refugee rights. However, these residents continue to suffer from various harassments and life without respect at the hands of Nouri Maliki’s forces. It appears he is avenging them, first of all, for their opposition to the Iranian regime and their role in Saddam Hussein’s war against Iran.
The difference is here: their entry to the terrorist list was during the Bill Clinton term, yet it was US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who took them of the list! Here we must mention the wisdom of women, especially since the person at the top of the national Iran opposition council is Maryam Rajavi who began her struggle against the Iranian regime from the 1970s, and is from a family that has suffered from death and torture, including her sister, Masumeh, killed by Khomeini’s regime while she was pregnant!
Maryam Rajavi is a woman who has a history which speaking of will take a long time. The advances made by the Iranian resistance are the result of deep faith in the viewpoint that there is no difference between men and women, and positions are based on qualification. This is something one can expect from Rajavi’s actions, and this is what gained my attention after following this civil movement against the Iranian regime’s cruelty and oppression.
The removal of the PMOI from the US terrorist list will open a very widespread position before this pacifist resistance movement, which never had any relations with terrorism. In fact, the goal of this movement is freedom and democracy, which it has achieved and we will see much more of its future accomplishments. Despite not having any support from the West or Arab countries, it has insisted on the fact that Iran enjoys widespread support from Western countries because it serves to their interests! This is the information in Maryam Rajavi’s words with the media.
Additionally, Maryam Rajavi’s beliefs include the annihilation of the Iranian regime and change will not take place other than by the Iranian people and resistance. However, in my opinion, the symbol of this resistance are “women” who have tasted the bitterness and cruelty of the religious state in Iran during it’s over 30 years of existence, and thousands of women have been arrested, tortured and executed. Therefore, Iran’s revolution will rise from the depth of women; women whom the resistance has come to believe in, and its evidence is the candidacy of Maryam Rajavi for the presidency after Ahmadinejad, because she has a convincing plan for justice and equality, and freedom from the mullahs’ violence, whose darkness has engulfed the Iranian people’s freedom and humanity.
