Regime change is the ultimate solution to rid the region and world of nuclear-armed regime
NCRI – The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, welcomed the approval of a sanctions resolution against the Iranian regime by the US Senate in unison with the House of Representatives. She described the move as an imperative and significant step to prevent the medieval regime from obtaining nuclear weapons. She expressed hope that the US government would immediately implement the resolution.
The Iranian Resistance’s President-elect added that appeasement and delay vis-à-vis the Iranian regime, in addition to the sustainment and expansion of economic and trade relations with it for the benefit of short-term economic interests and political considerations, have served as a very effective factor for the terrorist mullahs to get closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon. Since 2002, when the regime’s most important nuclear projects were revealed by the Iranian Resistance, instead of imposing comprehensive sanctions, there was 8 years of appeasement, negotiations and incentive packages for the regime.
Mrs. Rajavi stressed that in addition to brutal domestic suppression, obtaining nuclear weapons and exporting terrorism and fundamentalism are part of the regime’s strategy to prolong its rule, which means that the regime is not prepared to abandon these policies. The ultimate solution is democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and their resistance. Changing the regime is not only the demand of the Iranian people but an imperative for peace and tranquility in the region and the world; it is what the international community needs. That is why the prudent policy vis-à-vis the regime would include the imposition of comprehensive sanctions against it in addition to recognizing the Iranian people’s resistance for democracy and peace, as well as removing the barriers on the resistance’s path.
Hampering the resistance’s efforts took place at the behest of the religious fascism ruling Iran in the context of the policy of appeasement and served to prolong the rule of the regime as well as the pain and suffering of the Iranian people.
