On January 12, 1979, Shapoor Bakhtiar who had accepted premiership offered by the Shah announced his reformist agenda. But the Iranian people’s heroic uprising against the monarchial system that demanded the downfall of any kind of dictatorship rejected his so called reformist plan. The people chanted against him and considered his agenda a pretext to buy time for the moribund and incorrigible dictatorship. After announcing his agenda, Bakhtiar’s government lasted only a month.
