On June 3, 1924, Mirzadeh Eshghi, the freedom-loving poet and journalist was martyred by the agents of Reza Shah.
Mirzadeh Eshghi was born in 1893 in Hamedan, western Iranian city. He went to Tehran to continue his education at the age of 17 and migrated to Istanbul at the beginning of World War1. After returning to Iran, Eshqi opposed then government of Vothouqoddowleh and was imprisoned for a while.
His literary works that outcry the people’s desires consist of poems, novels and plays. Among his poems is Jomhouri Nameh (Republic Letter) which is written in opposition to Reza Shah, in which the faces of many dissemblers were revealed with a strong language.
On July 3, 1924, Eshqi was cowardly assassinated by the order of Reza Shah. Over 30,000 people of Tehran participated in his funeral
