On August 29, 1993, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) approved the ‘Lion and Sun’ as the official emblem of the NCRI. Mr. Massoud Rajavi, the NCRI chairman, offered this emblem to the large session of the NCRI in Baharestan Hall which unanimously approved it.

The NCRI resolution in this regard partly reads: “In its session on August 29 1993, the NCRI approved Mr. Massoud Rajavi’s suggestion as follows: The ‘Lion and Sun’ will be the official emblem of the NCRI. “
