On January 6, 1964, Father Taleqani, the progressive and freedom-loving Iranian clergy, was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in a Shah’s regime’s military tribunal on charges of demanding democracy. Engineer Bazargan, who was also sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in the same court, had said in his defense in the court: ’We are the last ones who speak with you peacefully.’ He expressed this conception that the young generations will speak to them with another language.
