Election of Iran’s first parliament speaker after Constitutional Revolution

On October 7, 1906, Iran’s first parliament called “National Council Assembly” elected Morteza Aliqolikhan Sanioddowleh as its speaker.

Sanioddowleh had finished his education in Germany and after returning to Iran established one of the first weave factories in Iran. He served as the parliament speaker for one year and then resigned.
