On December 16, 1950, Dr. Mosaddeq who was Tehran’s representative in the Parliament suggested revocation of the Iran-Britain oil treaty, and nationalization of Iranian oil industries. This act was opposed by the royalist system.
Hence, demonstrations in support of Mosaddeq initiated the day after the proposal.
The shameful treaty that was signed between Rezakhan and Great Britain abdicated nearly all of the oil revenue to Britain for 60 years.
Dr. Mosaddeq’s struggle finally resulted in the nationalization of Iran’s oil industry.
