
On September 18, 2004 Eddie Adams, the famous reporter and photographer died in New York at the age of 71. He was the winner of 50 awards in his career including the Pulitzer Prize. His most famous published photo was during the Vietnam war when a number of policemen in Saigon arrested a man charged with collaborating with Vietcong forces and took him hand coughed to Brigadier General ’Negook Lu Aun’ who was present at an intersection. The Brigadier General, without any investigation, took out his pistol and shot him in the head in public. Eddie Adams, who was at the scene snatched the moment and took a picture without the policemen noticing. The picture was wired throughout the world by AP, instigating widespread anti-war demonstrations in the US. Eddie Adams won the Pulitzer Prize for taking this picture.
