SYRIA BOMBING, THE BEGINNING OF IRAN REGIME’S REGIONAL POLICY’S FAILING

By Mahdavi Nasim

Iran freedom, April 19, 2018— The US, UK, and France launched strikes against targets at three sites in Syria in the early hours of Saturday morning, following a week of threats of responding to a chemical weapons attack on civilians in the Damascus enclave of Douma. Britain and France joined the United States in the strikes in a coordinated operation that was intended to show Western resolve in the face of what the leaders of the three nations called persistent violations of international law.

Mr.Trump characterized it as the beginning of a sustained effort to force Assad to stop using banned weapons, but only ordered a limited, one-night operation that hit three targets.

Beyond the number of targets, the implementation of these coordinated operations is significant which will have grave effects on the political situation in the region. Without any doubt, the first impact of this operation not only overwhelms Assad but Iran regime as well.

Although during the days before the operation, Russia and Iran threatened that they would respond, in fact, they did nothing.

Expecting Russia to intercept US planes or missiles, some figures inside the Iranian regime blamed Russia, accused it of treason and dealing with Tramp.

According to the state-run Entekhab newspaper, quoting a foreign relations analyst affiliated to Rouhani’s faction, “It was predicted that Russia would not do anything other than verbal condemnation, and it is not necessary for the (regime) system to react more than condemning the attack. The system had stated that the attack would make the problems of the Middle East, particularly Syria’s, more complicated. I do not believe it's necessary to react more than this. The system is truly just enough, to condemn and say that the topic would make the problem in Syria more difficult and long-lasting.”

“It is true that the Russian ambassador to Lebanon had said that they would intercept the missiles, but considering the records of Russian, it was expected that they would do nothing other than verbal condemnation. Although, they later announce that they would make decisions on the implications,” he added.

The first official reaction in Iran was the stance of the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, who accused Tramp, Macron and Teresa May of criminal act and said: "I explicitly say that the President of the United States, the French President, and the British prime minister, have committed a crime so they  are criminal.”

But others accused Saudi Arabia of funding the coalition forces. Hossein Shariatmadari, the representative of Khamenei is the editor-in-chief of in Kayhan Institute wrote:

“Without any doubt, one can conclude that Saudi Arabia has paid for the criminal and joint attack by the US, the UK, and France on Syria. Therefore, Saudi Arabia and its allies must pay the price, and Syria must barrage missiles on Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to retaliate.”

Some Iranian regime officials have warned the government and the military forces to remain neutral on Syria and to wait patiently for the crisis that has just begun. But others blamed the government's policies and said that all the costs that they had spent in Syria and for Hezbollah did not resolve any problem, so they were losing everything.

The Iranian regime's reactions indicate that the regime is very concerned about the failing its policies in Syria, and as a result in the region as a whole. Policies that were the means of ransom, the pressure on the countries of the region, expansion insecurity in the Middle East, and creating terrorist organizations.

Failure of this policy means the complete failure of the mullah’s regime.

This policy will soon be destroyed the integrity of the system and, ultimately, this plunderer suppressive regime will pay the cost of its anti-national policies. They will be overthrown by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.
