Iraqiya Coalition representative in the US Iham al-Sameraii said the international community, along with Iraqi dignitaries, tribes, lawyers and political movements have all been shocked from the conditions at Camp Liberty, going on to describe the camp near Baghdad airport as nothing more than a prison lacking infrastructure and humanitarian minimums.
However, the Iraqi government, with support from various international parties, insists on the continuation of this relocation, al-Sameraii added. The reason for this is that Maliki must urgently and immediately repay the Iranian regime for his recent political maneuvers regarding Syria and the Arab Summit, and convince the mullahs he will implement their policies in Iraq. For this, he has increased pressures on Camp Ashraf residents to transfer to Liberty prison, which was an Iranian plan and agenda from the very beginning.
Iraqiya Coalition leaders have warned time and again the plan to relocate Ashraf residents inside Iraq is the demand of the Iranian regime and lacks legal and even moral basis, he emphasized, adding this project must stop until Ashraf residents’ rights and minimum guarantees are provided for.
