US intends to remove PMOI from terror list

Senior Obama administration officials told CNN Secretary Clinton intends to delist Iranian opposition PMOI from the State Department terror list, CNN Arabic reported. This organization was designated as a terror group 15 years ago.
This came after the transfer of this Iranian dissident organization’s leaders and members from Camp Ashraf in Iraq to Camp Liberty near Baghdad that formerly belonged to the US military.
Washington designated the PMOI as terror organization back in 1997, however, following the Iraq war the US recognized members of this organization as ‘non-combatants’ and ‘protected persons’ based on the Geneva Conventions, CNN Arabic added.
In December 2011 the Iraqi government signed an agreement with the UN for the transfer of Camp Ashraf – currently named ‘Camp New Iraq’ – to a temporary transit location where the UNHCR initiated its efforts for their resettlement outside Iraq.
