Iraqiya bloc requests immediate parliamentary investigation on Rassafe Prison massacre

Al-Baghdadiya TV, 27 March 2011 – The Iraqiya Faction in the Iraqi Parliament demanded an immediate investigation into the massacre at Rassafa Prison. In a press conference, this bloc announced it has reason to believe the prison’s officials and management were involved in those incidents. It should be reminded that on March 21st, numerous black-clothed forces belonging to Nouri Maliki attacked the Rassafa Prison, killing and wounding a number of prisoners.
“The Iraqiya Fraction seriously follows up on issues regarding human rights violations,” Iraqi MP Salman al-Jumaili from the Iraqiya bloc said. “We demand an immediate investigation on the events taking place in Rassafa Prison and insist on severe punishment for those responsible.”
