The Iraqi Islamic Party, headed by Dr. Tariq al-Hashemi, Iraq’s vice- president, in a statement, condemned the unrest and dangerous security situation in Basra being worsened and the behavior of those parties behind this chaos.
The statement asked the Iraqi government and the engaged parties to abide by the rule of law.

Dhafer al-Ani, member of Iraqi parliament from the Iraqi National Accord Front, said about the clashes: We ask everyone to keep calm and to take peaceful actions for solving problems. It should be guaranteed that this situation does not spread out to other areas; everyone should act responsibly.
