More than 1000 martyrs’ family members, women activists, and workers held the anniversary of political prisoners’ martyrdom in 1988 at Khavaran cemetery while surrounded by the security and intelligence forces on Friday.
The regime’s security forces had extensively surrounded Khavaran and its milieu since early morning on Friday. In order to prevent the formation of the gathering, they had dug trenches around Khavaran. They also had stationed control posts in several regions around and in the entrance road to Khavaran. While identifying the entering people, they tried to prevent entering the people; but despite the tight suppressive measures, threatening and menaces, the regime agents weren’t able to prevent the ceremony. The presence of women in this ceremony and their role in organizing it was very salient.
Due to extensive preventions, some of those who intended to participate in the ceremony couldn’t take part, yet more than a thousand people participated in this glorious ceremony.
At this ceremony the speakers commemorated the martyrs of 1988 massacre which was carried out by Kkomeini and reiterated on the continuance of their path. The people also performed some poems and songs en masse.
