Human Rights Watch unveiled a new and advanced type of cluster bombs used by Russia in Syria. Images and video footages posted on the Internet showing cluster bombs being used for the first time in airstrikes against the town of Hafar near Aleppo. This area near western Aleppo is controlled by Syrian opposition forces.
Footages of Russian airstrikes using cluster bombs shows Russia has carried out air and ground attacks in Aleppo, Hama and Idlib provinces.
Human Rights Watch expressed deep concerns over the use of these types of cluster bombs by Russia and arming the Assad regime with these types of weapons. These types of bombs will have grave consequences on civilians for years to come, HRW added.
