Iran: political prisoner dies under torture

Political prisoner Hamze Naroie, 23, lost his life under under horrific torture on Wednesday, June 25th. During the so-called “Judiciary Week” in Iran under the mullahs’ rule, a group of judiciary officials had visited the prison where Naroie was detained in, during which he had protested his inhumane conditions. Following that, an individual by the name of Sargol Zai, deputy public prosecutor of Sistan & Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran, ordered this political prisoner to be punished and tortured.
Hamze Naroie was arrested 7 months ago in the city of Zahedan for his political activities. He endured interrogations and inhumane tortures for three months in solitary confinement in the Zahedan Intelligence Department. He was then transferred to Zahedan Central Prison and for another four months he was held incommunicado without any family visits or even a telephone call. Prior to this his brother, Ali Naroie, was murdered by Ministry of Intelligence agents for his political activities. (Human Rights & Democracy Activists in Iran – July 2, 2014)
