Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the new national unity government rejects violence and will abide by peace talks with Israel.
“I am the president of the national unity government and I will live up to the peace agreements,” he said. “If Israel releases the remaining prisoners that were agreed upon and stops the Jewish settlement construction I will be willing to restart the peace talks.”
Israel left the talks following the agreement between Fatah and Hamas over forming the national unity government of Palestine.
