The United States and Turkey announced last month their intention to force ISIS out of a northern area near the Syrian border and establish a safe zone for moderate Syrian opposition forces with air cover, Al Arabiya reported on Wednesday, August 12th.
The safe zone considered by Turkey is in the northern area of Aleppo Province and the Syria-Turkey border between the cities of Jerablus and Mar’a. This is a 100 kilometer long stretch with a depth of 50 kilometers into Syria. There are a number of cities, towns and villages in this area north of Aleppo, such as Manbazh, Jerablus, al-Bab, Akhtarin, Suran, Mar’a and E’zaz. These areas will enjoy air cover.
