
Ismaeel Kahrom, advisor of Iran’s Environment Protection Organization says 21 lagoons in Iran are now below the red line due to regional changes.
“Decreases in widths, rivers and lagoons drying up, jungles being destroyed, waters becoming salty and acetic at a much faster rate” are amongst the reasons behind these regional changes, he said.
There are also 20 amphibious creatures in Iran that are facing extinction due to regional changes in Iran, Kahrom added, and “currently they are living in conditions that they might literally disappear tomorrow.”
A review of long-term statistics shows a major drought shaping in Tehran, Fars, Semnan and north Lorestan provinces.
