The British daily Independent wrote that the Iranian and Syrian regimes were after the elemination of the Lebanese Army Operation Chief Brigadier General Francois al-Hajj.

General Francois al-Hajj had become a target for these regimes after the conflict in the Nahr al-Bared camp.
