
The governments of France, US and Germany emphasized on illegitimacy of the mullahs’ regime’s parliamentary elections and called it un-free.
Pascal Andreani, spokeswoman of French Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the Iranian regime limits the Iranian people’s right for election. She expressed regret of the way the elections were carried out in Iran.
The French Socialist Party released an official statement and condemned the process of the Iranian parliamentary elections because it was neither free nor fair. The party stressed that the election results was basically known from before. The French Socialist Party has announced its support and solidarity with the democratic forces of Iran including women and student movements.
Tom Casey, US State Department’s deputy spokesman, in a press conference, said : “Other than people in the current Iranian regime, I don’t think you’ll find anyone that says that it was a free and fair election. It’s pretty hard to have that when the basis for the election is candidates being determined based on predetermined religious and political qualifications. So, we don’t think this was a free and fair election.”
German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Yaeger said: The elections in Iran were neither free nor fair. In this election a great number of candidates were omitted.
