Forced to retreat in the face of increasing protests by all walks of life in Iran these days, including physicians, nurses, teachers and workers, Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet has ordered vicious raids on people’s homes in the poor districts of southern Tehran, including Nazi Abad and Javadiye. These defensive measures clearly show the regime is utterly terrified and has also been resorting to waves of public and secret executions in numerous cities in the past few days. However, the regime has not been able to heal its deep wounds.
Interior Ministry security forces launched such vicious raids on Thursday, July 30th starting at 4 am in these two districts, all under the pretext of ‘supporting the locals and taking measures against vigilantes’. A number of homes were raided and security forces entered people’s houses without any warrants, beating the youths before the eyes of their family members. A large number of forces were literally herded into these areas and attempted to cement a climate of fear by showing off their crackdown equipment. However, when these forces saw how people were abhorred by their measures of parading the arrested youths, they quickly gathered their men and fled the area.
