Former Iraqi premier Dr. Ayad Allawi described the recent elections in this country as a failure, citing the fact that the political process in Iraq has been a failure from the start and has not consociated with the Iraqi society, Sot al-Iraq reported.
“What took place before and after the elections was a sham and huge deception… it can be described as marginalizing, staging widespread military attacks, displacing large numbers of people from their homes, illegally eliminating candidates and also creating chaos, exchanging allegations and continuing assassinations that lead to 1,000 Iraqis being killed this month. This is a precise judicial explanation of the elections atmosphere,” he said in an interview with al-Mada TV.
“What is taking place in Iraq is nothing but inflicting damage to the Iraqi people, and in this country the people have been deprived of their own will,” he added.
“In 2010 power was stolen based on foreign will, and today once again it is being stolen by fraud and deception,” he said.
Allawi also warned of serious deterioration of conditions in Iraq if the current election results are presented.
