In an interview with al-Baghdadiya TV, Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi described the Iranian regime as always being part of the problem.
“Unfortunately, the Iranian regime has always been part of the problem, and not the solution,” al-Hashemi stressed.
In response to a question regarding his dispute with Maliki, the Iraqi Vice President said: “The divide began on February 23rd of this year during a meeting of political leaders regarding the February 25th demonstration, because Maliki had expressed his opinion for handling the crisis on Friday, on the day of the demonstration, but I was very concerned that a killing spree might take place in Tahrir Square and therefore rejected.”
The al-Baghdadiya TV reporter then asked, “For whom do you expect arrest warrants to be issued under article four on terrorism? Are they among the Iraqiya bloc?
Tareq al-Hashemi answered, “Maliki began with Tareq al-Hashemi and clearly said he has cases exactly similar to this accusation against the bodyguards of Rafe al-Issawi and maybe Saleh al-Mutlak and Osama al-Nujaifi and others…”
