In an attempt to create a climate of fear and prevent further protests, the mullahs’ public prosecutor office in Tehran announced the arrest of 16 people in relation to the currency crisis protests, the state-run Asr-e Iran daily reported.
“Sixteen of the main elements behind the currency disorder have been arrested,” Tehran’s public prosecutor announced.
“These individuals took advantage of the atmosphere resulting from the enemy’s psychological warfare, with assistance provided by rumoring parties inside and outside the country,” he announced.
Tehran’s public prosecutor office did not mention any names, adding further judicial prosecutions will take place in the future.
