Al Taqeer TV, 29 Dec 2012 – Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi says people taking to the streets in demonstrations is an emphasis on their lack of confidence in the government’s ability to respond to their demands, and this will renew the crisis of the enormous distrust between the government and the Iraqi people.
Al-Nujaifi issued a press release calling for respect to demonstrator’s demands, far from sectarianism, and the immediate and real resolve of their issues, especially matters related to the release of female prisoners.
He also called for transparent investigations regarding those arrested and the institutionalization of the country, adding this must be based on the principle of justice, equality and real participation.
