Free Syrian Army rebels in heavy clashes against Assad military forces in Damascus taking over the Arefe strategic positions in the Jobar area near Damascus.
These clashes prolonged over a 48 hour period and dozens of Assad military and paramilitary forces were killed. According to this report the FSA engineering unit created tunnels to facilitate rebel advances to the area. Orient TV reported taking over these positions means controlling the gates to Damascus.
