
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s forces attacked Taji Prison inmates on hunger strike, injuring a number of them. One of the inmates told the Aljazeera TV station: “Some 7000 prisoners have gone on a hunger strike. They attacked the prison and indiscriminately beat us. During this assault, 21 inmates were injured and 5 are in critical condition. We have gone on a hunger strike in support of the demonstrations staged by the people and tribal sheikhs.”
