In an interview with Baghdad TV regarding the statement of more than 300,000 Shiites from the southern Iraqi provinces condemning the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and rejecting that regime’s fabrication against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), Sheik Jassim al-Kadhim, president of the Association of Nationalist and Independent Iraqi Tribes, said: “The only solution for Iraq is eviction of the Iranian regime and acknowledgement of the PMOI in Iraq.”

Sheikh Jassim al-Kadhim said: The statement of 300000 signatures include 14 clergies, 600 tribal sheikhs, 1250 jurists, 2200 physicians, engineers and university professors and 25000 Iraqi women.

Q: Could you give us a perspective of the extent of Iran’s meddling in the south? How did these interventions affect the people in the south?

Sheikh Jassim al-Kadhim: We asked the UN representatives to come and investigate the crimes the Iranian regime had committed or investigate the crimes that militias affiliated to the Quds force and IRGC that have recently been designated. I emphasized that the only way is to evict the Iranian regime from Iraq and to acknowledge the PMOI’s status, which is aligned with the unity and cooperation of patriotic and anti-fascist forces. The statement refers to the grave mistake US had made, and that was the disarmament of this PMOI that tilted the strategic balance in Iraq and in the region. This also gave the Iranian regime a free hand to export terrorism to Iraq. As the statement says, the only solution is the removal of the PMOI and Iranian Resistance from the terrorist list by the U.S. State Department and to lift the limitations from PMOI in Iraq.
