Tom Toncredo: No legal or political justification is left to keep PMOI in terrorist list

In the Official US Congress session, Tom Toncredo, member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Republican from Colorado, said: Following the British Court verdict, there is no legal or political justification to keep the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in the terrorist list, and I insistently call the US government to remove the Iranian democratic opposition from the FTO.

Addressing the Congress speaker, he said: Today, we must support the opposition that struggles for overthrowing the terrorist regime ruling Tehran. It would be amazing for most Americans that we are not doing so.
One of the main groups that struggle for overthrowing the Iranian regime is the PMOI; it is surprising that instead of supporting this dissidents, our State Department decided in 1997 to label them terrorist.

Tom Toncredo added: The PMOI advocates a democratic government based on separation of state from church, a government that respects human rights and basic freedoms including freedom of press and freedom of religion. This organization has made constructive revelations regarding the Iranian regime’s activities in Iraq and Tehran’s secret nuclear program; moreover, a great number of this group’s members are under protection of Coalition soldiers in Iraq.

The PMOI is a force that must be supported at a condition that we are after a factor for democratic change in Iran.
