A labor activist in Iran said on the subject of difference in paychecks between men and women workers in Iran, “The average paycheck of a female worker in all employment ranks are less than the average paychecks received by their male counterparts who work in the same fields.”
The latest statistics indicating a 23% difference between the paychecks of ranking men and women in Tehran which means women receive more than a fifth less in comparison to their male colleagues to do the same work. Statistics are the official proof of women’s experience. According to the statistics, employers legitimize this difference by saying men are responsible for the economic status of their families and therefore, less paychecks are provided to women, and this is while many female workers are the caretakers of their families. The reason behind this viewpoint, considering women as second-class, has led to employers taking advantage of women’s work at the least of expenses.
