The Lebanese Socialist Progressive party and Druze leader, Walid Jumblatt called on Arab countries to confront Iran’s meddling in Lebanon’s internal affairs and not allow Lebanon to become prey to Iranian regime’s avarice.

In an interview with the Arab language daily published in London the Asharq al-Awsat on Jan. 27, the Lebanese political leader Jumblatt added: “the chain of assassinations is to interrupt political progress in Lebanon. We have paved the way for independence of Lebanon by our blood, although we have called many times for participation of all political parties, but could anyone enter political process with those envolved in physical and political elimination?”

He added: “when we started to put an end the others’ guardianship based on the UN resolution 1559, the bloody messages started and wave of assassinations started. We call on the Arab League to save Lebanon from covetousnesses of Iran and Syria.”
