Al Jazeera, 8 Oct 2012 – Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Kamel Omro said in an interview with Egypt’s al-Ahram daily that some believe Iran has no place in negotiations. He said in Egypt’s point of view, Iran can’t be unconsidered.
“We have told Iran that you are now part of the problem and if you continue this position of yours, you will remain part of the problem to the very end. The end is clear and this regime is in its final days. We emphasized to the Iranians that if this regime is overthrown and you insist on standing alongside it, you will to be going down with it,” Omro said.
“However, if you take part in resolving the issue, you will have a place,” he added.
“The future of Syria must be established by the Syrians in active dialogue between various opposition parties and a part of the current government that is accepted by the opposition. However, those who are in government now have no place in the future of Syria,” the Egyptian top diplomat said.
