Jan Zahradil, President of the Conservative-Reformist Group in the European Parliament
Revoking the terrorist designation against the PMOI in the US is an extraordinary superb development. This organization should never have been placed on this list and its was the dictatorship ruling Iran that had initiated a demonizing campaign during these years by spreading lies and misleading information against the PMOI through its intelligence agents.
Now, with the removal of the PMOI from the US list, it has been proven that those allegations were void and the National Council of Resistance of Iran leads the democratic opposition with complete competence. This has seriously angered the mullahs in Iran. This council in its political agenda has called for a free election, a multi-party system, separation of church and state and equality between men and women in the society.
Maryam Rajavi is the President-elect of this council.

Iranian Opposition is Finally Free to Act
Statement by Tunne Kelam
Member of the European Parliament (Estonia)
On September 28, 2012, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the official US Government decision to remove the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) from its list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. As the best organized Iranian opposition movement, the PMOI, unjustly and to the great satisfaction of the Iranian mullahs, has been on this black list for 15 years.
“This is a long-awaited step which follows a similar decision by the European Court of Justice in 2009 and deals a severe blow to the Iranian clerical dictatorship,” stated MEP Tunne Kelam, one of the vice-chairman of the Friends of a Free Iran Intergroup (FOFI) in the European Parliament. Over 200 Members of the European Parliament belong to FOFI which has many years supported the PMOI and its umbrella organization, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in their efforts to present a democratic alternative to the current dictatorship in Iran.
“For the last seven year we have tried to help solve one of the most unnatural international paradoxes,” added Kelam. According to Kelam, the most effective opposition to the Iranian mullahs was neutralized for a long time by this terrorist designation which was achieved as a result of the intrigues of the Iranian terrorist regime and the short term financial interests of Western nations.
In 1997, President Clinton sought to improve relations with Irna during talks in Washington with President Khatami who was then expected to be a moderate among Iranian leaders. Many former US government officials and observers believe that Iran’s precondition for better relations was the paralyzing of the PMOI activities abroad.

Association of Egyptian Jurists in Defense of Ashraf Residents
The removal of the PMOI from the US list must bring an end to all the Iraqi government’s pretexts for violating the rights of Ashraf and Liberty residents.
The Egyptian Lawyers Society calls on the international community to intervene immediately to lift the siege imposed on Ashraf and Liberty, and support Ashraf residents’ rights to their property and their right to sell these assets. In addition to this, we demand Liberty to be recognized as a refugee camp under full UN and UNHCR supervision.

Arab Counsel in Defense of Liberty Residents
The Arab Counsel is proud to present its highest congratulations on the removal of the PMOI from the US to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran and Liberty residents.
We call on God Almighty to protect this organization and its members from all evil and harm.
