AFP, Baghdad, July 31, 2010 – The number of people killed as a result of violence in Iraq in July was the highest figure since May 2008, according to government figures released on Saturday.

A total of 535 people — 396 civilians, 89 policemen and 50 soldiers — died in attacks across the country in July, data compiled by the health, defence and interior ministries showed.
