Reporters Without Borders issued a statement calling for an independent commission to probe into the Iranian regime’s vicious attack against inmates of ward 350 in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison.
This statement, issued on Thursday, April 24th, says the attack on prisoners was planned by officials in the judiciary, Revolutionary Guards intelligence and Ministry of Intelligence. The presence of various figures of these three entities alongside the anti-riot guards in the ward 350 attack was not a coincident.
This statement adds during the attack many prisoners, amongst them detained journalists and bloggers, were horrifically beaten and transferred to solitary confinement in ward 240.
RWB emphasizes the lives and well-being of these prisoners, who have been deprived of medical treatment, are in danger, going on to call for an independent commission to probe into this barbaric attack. RWB added Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Situation in Iran, must go the country urgently to conduct an independent investigation into this matter.
