The stance taken by Mr. Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesman, against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran is the reflection of hysterical pressures of the religious fascism ruling Iran and its embassy in Baghdad on the Iraqi government to take revenge on the PMOI because three million Iraqi Shiites have rejected the Iranian regime.
This stance is the flagrant breach of International law and conventions, especially the non-refoulement principle, Common Article Three of the Geneva Conventions and the International Humanitarian Law, and is in shameful contrast with the stances of ICRC, UNHCR, UNAMI, and the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the European Parliament.
Earlier, the Iranian regime had repeatedly declared the need for retribution and massacre of all PMOI members voiced by its various spokesmen in Iraq.
When the PMOI members are abducted, when the honest and innocent Iraqis are assassinated for having relations with the PMOI, when Ashraf water pumping station is exploded by the terrorist Qods force, and when the residents of Ashraf are subjected to missile attack by the Iranian regime, Dabbagh remains mute. But, when the Iraqi Shiites issue a declaration which is based on remarks made by Iraqi known leaders, and refers to the U.S. officials’ assertions about Iranian regime’s meddling and crimes, and when they ask for stopping Iranian regime’s meddling and expulsion of the agents of IRGC and the terrorist Qods force from Iraqi institutions, Mr. Dabbagh puts forward the issue of expulsion of the PMOI, and arbitrarily announces that any relationship with them is a crime, and asks the MNF-I to surrender the PMOI and all its members’ properties to the Iraqi authority! This is at a time that international relevant organizations in their contact with Iraqi officials “have repeatedly reminded them of their obligation to act in accordance with the principle of non-refoulement principle, when transferring persons to another State or authority”.
The UNHCR and the ICRC have made clear that, ’the residents of Camp Ashraf must not be deported, expelled or repatriated in violation of non refoulement principle, or displaced inside Iraq in violation of the relevant provisions of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).’
Warning against a human catastrophe and repeat of terrorist and missile attacks by the mullahs’ regime which Dabbagh’s remarks are clearly preparing the ground for them, the PMOI demands the UN Security Council, relevant international organizations, MNF-I, and in particular, the Prime Minister Nouri Maliki to immediately intervene, condemn such remarks, and to remove all restrictions-desirable to the terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran- from Ashraf residents.
