Afghan catastrophe leaves over 2,500 killed or missing after floods, landslides

2,500 people have been killed and are missing due to floods and landslides in a mountainous region of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan Province.
Afghan officials said landslides completely destroyed a village. At least 300 homes are buried in mud, and surrounding villages are facing similar fates due to rising river water levels. Local officials have expressed concerns regarding lack of necessary machinery and supplies to save local residents, demanding urgent support be provided.
