Baghdad daily published remarks of Iraqi MPs Ahmad Soleiman al-Alvani and Heidar al-Mulla, condemning the cruel siege on Ashraf residents and their psychological torture by forces affiliated to Khamenei and Maliki. The newspaper belongs to the Iraqi National Movement led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi.
Baghdad daily wrote: Iraqi MP and senior Iraqiya member Dr. Ahmad Soleiman al-Alvani condemned the torture of Ashraf residents in Iraq, calling on the UN to live up to its obligations on the residents.
“The psychological torture against Ashraf residents is completely unacceptable,” al-Alvani said. “Ashraf residents are protected persons under international laws, and inflicting torture on them through loudspeakers is illegal. The Iranian regime’s agents have installed loudspeakers around Ashraf to create disturbance and psychologically torture Iranian dissidents stationed inside the camp.”
“Reports indicate that these measures are being carried out in cooperation with the Iraqi government, which supports the Iranian regime’s demands,” he continued.
Baghdad daily added: Also, MP Heidar al-Mulla from the Iraqiya slate said in a special interview, “The Iranian regime is utilizing its intelligence elements to tarnish the image of Ashraf residents and using brutal methods to impose psychological torture on them.”
“There is cooperation between elements of the Iraqi government and Iranian regime’s intelligence services, which by installing loudspeakers, are instigating Ashraf residents in an intolerable manner,” he added. “They are considered protected persons under international laws and their torture is illegal. These inhumane measures are considered violations of humanitarian laws, which can result in international punishment…”
“These loud and inhumane noises are being broadcasted under orders issued by Iranian regime intelligence services,” al-Mulla added.
These sources said those stationed outside the camp are without a doubt agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS), adding that due to the medical blockade enforced on Ashraf, the conditions of patients inside the camp have become unbearable.
“The policies practiced by Omar Khaled (director of the “New Iraq” Hospital) in Ashraf and the committee affiliated to the Iraqi Prime Ministry have become routine measures in causing delays in the treatment of patients, which has led to the death of a number of residents of this camp,” these sources announced.
Heidar al-Mulla called for Ashraf’s siege to be immediately lifted and the psychological torture of the residents coming to an end, stressing that these measures have raised international condemnations by the UN and other organizations.
