Iranian regime’s intervention brings disaster to Iraq’s political situation

NCRI, 10 Oct 2011 – Preventing the formation of the National Council of Strategic Policies by Maliki’s State of Law coalition was done at the behest of the Iranian regime, senior Iraqiya Coalition member Dr. Zafer al-Ani said.
“We know well that a decision was made by the Iranian regime not to allow the formation of the National Council for Strategic Policies, and thus Iraqiya’s election rights were not respected,” he said in an interview with Baghdad TV.
“They have received these instructions in their recent meeting in Tehran,” al-Ani added. “We consider this matter as closed.”
“The whole political process is in a critical situation,” Dr. al-Ani continued. “A new monopolistic and authoritarian spirit is dominant. Participants in the political process are not accepted, let alone others. I think the political process needs serious changes to rescue it from the current situation. This situation may lead to a disaster.”
