Southern Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs warn of Iran’s meddling in Iraq

In an interview with the Kuwaiti daily Al-Watan, a number of southern Iraqi tribal sheikhs said: We warn the Persian Gulf states of the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq.

The southern Iraqi tribal sheikhs announced: “The Iranian regime tries to destabilize Iraq and hence to deviate the United States concentration on the Iranian nuclear program. This regime seeks to create a Shiite crescent.”

Sheikh Kadhm al-Anizan, head of the southern Iraqi tribal sheikhs, emphasized the Iraqi Shiites’ dependence on their own country and their opposition against the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and said: “The Iranian regime’s agents in Iraq facilitate entrance of Qods Force into Iraq”. He said the Council of the southern Iraqi Tribal sheikhs including 70 tribal sheikhs has had a prominent role in ending the Iranian regime’s efforts for meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs, particularly in southern and central Iraq.
