As Iran and Russia are rushing troops to Syria, rebels in East Ghouta of Damascus launched an attack and took over positions belonging to Assad troops near the Damascus-Homs International Highway, Syrian opposition Orient TV reported on Saturday. A number of buildings belonging to foreign companies, which Assad troops had turned into military bases, have also been confiscated by the fighters.
Moreover, Syrian rebels took over the Tal Kurdi region in Eastern Ghouta and also took control over a women’s prison and orchards around this prison. In 24 hours of clashes at least 100 Assad troops were killed along with 6 main battle tanks and 8 armored personnel carriers belonging to Assad troops were destroyed, rebel commanders said.
