Mullahs’ nightmare: official recognition of the PMOI

The mullahs’ state-run TV aired a segment of Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast’s press briefing on Tuesday, revealing the regime’s fear of the official recognition of the PMOI by the international community.
Question: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister declared last week and it appears that they are discussing the gathering of groups opposing the establishment (Iran) in Bahrain. The monafeqin grouplet (term used by the mullahs for the PMOI) welcomed this proposal. There is this concern that after they lost their base in Iraq, they will be looking for a new place in the region, which of course Iran is sensitive to. What is Iran’s reaction and response and your analysis of this issue?
Mehmanparast: The issue raised by the Bahrain Foreign Minister recently needs no response. His remarks were out of line with diplomatic customs. I think he announced they have the intention to hold a friends of Iran session. Iran’s friends are the people of Bahrain. If there is to be a session held, it would be better for them to hear from their own people, and they must learn from Saddam Hussein’s fate on supporting terrorist groups and providing refuge for the monafeqin.”
On the issue of Syria, Mehmanparast said: “We emphasized that foreign nations should not be intervening to make decisions for the Syrian people. We expressed our concern that if a wrong trend begins in the region and Western nations are allowed to recognize various opposition groups, with any kind of terrorist measure, and provide them weapons and equipment and they finally seek to recognize them, this is a dangerous trend that can have an impact on all countries of the region. We must not allow countries supporting the Zionist regime in our region pursue such a dangerous trend, and all countries in the region can be the next target of this plot.”
