In an interview with Fox News TV, General Tom McInerney, former US Air Force Assistant Chief of Staff, asserted: In order to confront the Iranian regime, we must support the Iranian people and their struggle against this regime and to recognize the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
Fox News asked: The US wants to impose new sanctions on Iran. Is that enough for slowing down the Iranian military intentions? Or in order to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb, and stopping its support of terrorism there is a need to war?
General McInerney: I am willing that the economic sanctions and diplomacy be effective, but I am very pessimistic in this regard. The European Union, I mean Germany, France and Britain, have examined this course of action for 2 to 3 years. They could use their extensive economic power but that was not effective. The Iranian regime thinks we don’t have the will to confront it.
General McInerney emphasized on necessity of relying on Iranian people to take back their sovereignty from mullahs and said: We can’t wait until the Iranian regime acquires nuclear weapon and then confront its consequences.
