Following 144 days of being kept in the dark, the family of Kurdish political prisoner Saman Nasim – who is on death row – finally received a first call from him.
This Kurdish political prisoner in this phone call told his family that he is being detained in Zanjan Prison in northwestern Iran.
Nasim was born in September 1994. He was arrested on 17 July 2011, when he was only 17 years old, during clashes that erupted between Revolutionary Guards forces with a number of dissident forces. He was in solitary confinement for two months in the IRGC’s counterintelligence department in the city of Urumieh in northwestern Iran. He was placed under interrogation and torture, and then transferred to Mahabad Prison.
