On March 21, Radio Sawa (a US radio for Iraq and Arab states) reported that the US Forces in Iraq discovered a network smuggling Iranian arms and ammo in a region of Kut in Iraq, and arrested the network members.

The special forces on Thursday captured a group of weapon smugglers in a house in a residential area in Badra town east of Kut. The group was armed and they used to illegally smuggle Iranian weapons and military equipments into Iraq. Some light and heavy arms and anti air weapons were discovered and seized during operation. The group consisted of seven armed people among them police members of the Iraqi Interior Ministry. All the arrestees lived in Iran before the fall of previous government.
