Egypt extends armed forces mission abroad

At a session of the Egyptian National Defense Council on Sunday, chaired by President Abdulfattah al-Sisi, a decision was made to extend foreign missions for Egyptian soldiers in combat roles outside of Egypt’s borders. This decision is aimed at defending Egypt’s national security, and those of other Arab countries in the Red Sea and Bab al-Manda Strait region for another 6 months.
The fight against terrorism in the Sinai Peninsula and advances that must be made in this regard were also discussed in this session. Furthermore, other discussions and advisor talks were held about the inauguration of the new Suez Canal.
