High food prices reveal Rouhani promises were hollow

In contrast to Rouhani’s hollow promises during the presidential elections, Iran’s economic status is in a serious crisis and the society is literally explosive.
The mullahs’ Central Bank said prices in 11 groups of food stuffs have witnessed increases. According to the Central Bank, the price of potatoes – being one of the main items on the menu of Iran’s poor and deprived sector – has had a 207% increase.
The price of pasteurized milk has had a 3 percent increase in the past week alone.
Over 90% of the Iranian people, other than those associated to the regime’s plundering apparatus, cannot purchase grapes during the spring and summer seasons because of the skyrocketing prices. The prices of other fruits have also increased from 1.4 to 2.0% in the past week alone.
The price of red meat increased by 17.5%, chicken by 6.4%, sugar and sugar cubes by 29.8% and vegetable oil by 29.9%.
According to the regime’s own Ministry of Labor, the poverty line is a salary of 18 million rials (around $736) a month. However, some of the regime’s officials have announced the poverty line at 28 million rials (around $1,145) a month, showing that the regime’s Central Bank doesn’t take some significant facts into consideration in its calculations.
According to remarks made by the regime’s own experts, currently 70 to 80% of Iranians are under the poverty line and the term ‘poverty line’ is used for individuals or families can barely make ends meet just to stay alive. In the current conditions, most of the workers that are currently making only 4,875,210 rials a month cannot provide for their mortgages, commuting and health fees, purchase food stuffs like meat, rice, dairy products, sugar and … because of the skyrocketing prices across the market. According to the regime’s Central Bank prices for all these goods have seriously increased.
